Rare, gorgeous piece of Taylor history: a 1997 Taylor 710-KCE Limited Edition Dreadnought featuring an incredibly figured, premium Flamed Koa back and sides. Built during Taylor’s golden era in El Cajon, California, this guitar combines the crisp projection of a classic Sitka Spruce top with the sweet, complex warmth of old-growth Koa.
PLEASE NOTE: This instrument has significant structural condition issues and is being sold As-Is as a luthier project or a player's "beater" stage guitar. Please review the detailed condition notes and photos before purchasing.
The Good
Stunning Tonewoods: The flamed Koa back and sides feature dramatic three-dimensional figuring and a beautiful golden-amber hue.
Golden-Era Build: Features the high-end abalone rosette detailing and factory gold Grover tuning machines.
Onboard Electronics: Equipped with the original, era-correct factory Fishman Prefix Onboard Blendersystem (microphone/under-saddle pickup blend).
Detailed Condition Report (Sold As-Is)
This guitar has lived a full life and shows several notable cosmetic and structural defects that require attention:
Top Soundboard Cracks: There are multiple prominent, deep grain splits/cracks running horizontally along the lower bout of the spruce top. The finish has chipped and lifted away along these lines, exposing bare wood. These will need to be professionally cleated/stabilized by a luthier.
Back Crack: There is a notable horizontal split/crack running across the flamed Koa wood on the back.
Hardware Patina: The gold Grover tuning machines show heavy cosmetic oxidation, pitting, and patina typical of a vintage player instrument.
